Henry Darrell Wilson's Obituary
Services for H.D. "Darrell" Wilson , 82, of Longview will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Watson and Rev. Dewayne Beaty officiating. A private burial service will be held at Rosewood Park.
Darrell was born in Beasley, Texas on July 19, 1925 to Luther and Margaret ":Maggie" Wilson. He left his earthly home and arrived at his heavenly home on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
After graduating from Overton High School, Darrell joined the United States Navy and served in the Central Pacific during WWII. He received his associate degree from Kilgore College. Darrell worked for Humble Oil Company in the 1950's before going to work for Eastman Kodak in 1959. He retired from Texas Eastman after 26 years.
Darrell loved simple pleasures, especially fishing or playing snooker with his friends or attending church at First Baptist.
Children always loved Darrell. His granddaughters and great-granddaughters particularly enjoyed hearing about his eagle tattoo flying off his arm or watching his penny trick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Myrtle Duncan, Marie Rivers, Sidney Wilson, Peggy Jean Wallace, Emma Lou Nixon, and A.G. Wilson.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Dickson Wilson; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and John Waldie of Henderson; a son, Randy Wilson of Longview; granddaughters and spouses , Jena and Tim Simmons of Tyler, Laura and Keith Isaaac of Henderson, Heather and Wayne Gatlin of White Oak, and Halee' and Josh Brooks of McCamey; great-grandchildren, Brittney, Madison, Jodi,, Morgan, Maizie and Karter; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and bobby Rook of Tyler along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heart's Way Hospice or to First Baptist Church Extreme Makeover.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Tuesday evening, May 27th 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
