Henrietta Ramirez Warren's Obituary
Mrs. Henrietta Ramirez Warren of Henderson, 73, passed away into grace on April 12, 2015, after a short illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle, and ultimately gave her peace.
Henrietta was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. She was living and working in Alexandria, LA when she met and ultimately married John H. Warren. The two were to remain happily married for the next 39 years, until John’s death in 2012.
John and Henrietta moved their young family to East Texas in 1976, soon followed by the birth of their youngest child. After staying home to raise her family, Henrietta felt called to education, first teaching Spanish at The PREP School in Longview, TX. She ultimately returned to school, obtaining her teaching degree from UT Tyler. Even while earning her degree, working and raising her family, Henrietta was heavily involved with her children and their school life – volunteering as Treasurer of the Parents’ Council for eleven years and even doing a short stint as Treasurer for the Board of Trustees at Trinity School of Texas where both children attended. Upon completion of her degree, she began working for Carthage ISD, where she would teach Spanish at both the high school and junior high for the next twenty years, becoming known to all as “Señora Warren.”
After retirement, Henrietta remained active, continuing to substitute for both Carthage and Kilgore ISD’s until the onset of her final illness. She was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church, where she had been a member for over 30 years. Henrietta loved her grandchildren, who called her “Lela,” and spent many happy hours with all of them, frequently traveling to Houston to see the youngest.
Henrietta is survived by her children: Juanita Warren Salmon and Steve Salmon of Cypress, TX, and John H. “Trés” Warren and Lara Warren of Kilgore, Tx and their children (Mikaela Grounds, Sam Warren, Donia Warren and Gracie Salmon).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 am, at Grace Fellowship, 308 East Kay Street, Kilgore, TX, followed by internment later that day at the family cemetery in Bienville Parish, LA.
