Helen Soape's Obituary
Helen Ruth Soape was born May 3, 1927 in Kingsport, Tennessee to Douglas and Daisy Musick. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the age of 78. She was married August 4, 1951 to Joe Lynn Soape of Carthage, Texas and they made their home in Longview, Texas until her home going. They were in their 55th year of faithful love and marriage to one another.
Helen was a believer in Jesus Christ and had given her life in faith and trust in Him as a child. She was faithful to her Lord until the day of her death and was a member of First Baptist Church of Longview nearly 55 years.
One of the joys of her life was traveling in their RV and meeting new people. After Joe?s retirement from Texas Eastman, they combined this joy with their faith and joined the Volunteer Christian Builders. Traveling with the VCB, they helped build churches all over the United States and Canada. Helen was at her happiest when she was surrounded by family and Christian friends, while serving the Lord.
She is survived by her faithful, loving husband Joe; daughter, Lynda Keeling and husband, Keith of Carthage, Texas; son Larry and wife, Kathleen of New Braunfels, Texas; and daughter, Leslie Russell and husband, Danny of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Andy Keeling, Sarah Keeling, Joel Soape, Wallis Soape, Samuel Soape and Jennifer Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. The family also greatly appreciates the faithful care of her special caregivers.
Helen will be remembered by all for her love for the Lord, her beautiful smile, her faithfulness, her loyalty, her compassion and her love for others. She never met a stranger and she offered her friendship to one and all. Once you were her friend, you were a friend for life. Her family will miss her greatly and are grateful for the years God has given us with our wife, our mother and our grandmother.
Services for Helen will be 2:00 PM Friday at First Baptist Church Ford Chapel of Longview. The Family will be available for visitation at Rader Funeral Home, Thursday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the Volunteer Christian Builders or to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview or to Africa Anchor of Hope.
