Helen Simmons' Obituary
Helen E. Simmons, 88, of Longview passed away on September 4, 2013 at her home in Longview; 7 days shy of her 89th birthday.
Funeral services will be held at Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church at 1 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 with Rev. Jack Albright and Rev. Virginia Wall officiating. Burial will follow the service at Memory Park Cemetery under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Friday, September 6, 2013.
Helen was born on September 11, 1924 in Pittsburg, Texas. She married Lynn Simmons on August 3, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn and by her parents, Jewel and Roy McGahee. She is survived by her daughter Carol Grimes of Kilgore, Texas and her son, Roy and his wife, Judy of Richardson, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason Grimes and wife, Claudia of Longview, Eric Grimes and wife, Rebecca of Huntsville, Texas, Brenna Ledbetter and husband, Jason of Plano, Texas and Brian Simmons and wife, Connie of Krum, Texas. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Cameron, Jason and Selena; Tristan and Owen; Savannah Lynn, Bradie, Briley and Brittlee. She also survived by several nieces and nephews; one special cousin, Jess McFarland of Farmers Branch, Texas and one special nephew, Bill Simmons of Longview, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jason Grimes, Eric Grimes, Tristan Grimes, Jason Ledbetter, Brian Simmons and John Zeigler. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Simmons, Gene Simmons, Cameron Grimes and Glen Kernohan.
The family requests that memorials may be made in her memory to Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choosing.
