Helen Marie Brown's Obituary
Services for Helen Marie Brown, 71, of Longview, will be 12 Noon Friday, July 20, at the Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Interment will follow at 3 PM in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas. The family will greet friends at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.
Helen was born January 14, 1941 in Joaquin, Texas to Ruth Cook Howell and Hiram Howell and she passed to Heaven on July 17, 2012 in Longview
She graduated from Joaquin High School and after high school she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, In 1979 she earned her Masters Degree also in Education from S.F.A.
After graduating from college Helen married the love of her life, Thomas Earl Brown. A happy life was shared for 42 years. Thomas went to be with the Lord in 2004.
Helen taught school for 28 years. Twenty one of these were for Longview Independent School District at Mozelle Johnston Elementary. Mrs. Brown enjoyed teaching these children very much. She was a life time member of the P.T.A.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Helen enjoyed animals, the outdoors, flowers, reading and traveling. She liked to take trips to the farm to deer hunt actually deer watch with her son Tommy. Most importantly, she loved her family. Her pride always bubbled over concerning her children and grandchildren and was very happy when she was with them at their many activities.
Helen enjoyed the Faith Sunday School Class where she was a member at Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, a brother Richard Howell and sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Barbara Latimer.
Helen is survived by her son Tommy Brown and wife Jill, daughter Nicole Bodenheimer and husband Steve. She is also survived by four lovely grandchildren, Austin Brown, Marshall, Nickolas and Blaire Bodenheimer, brother in law Jack and a brother James Howell and several nephews and on niece.
