Helen Louise Robertson - Weaver's Obituary
Helen Louise Robertson Weaver, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. She was born March 29, 1916 in Amarillo. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1935 and married Melvin Robertson in 1936. During World War II she worked at the dry docks and took care of her two small children in Long Beach, California. They moved to Amarillo in 1946 where they raised their family. She worked for the Globe News and was the secretary at Avondale Baptist Church for 14 years while living in Amarillo. In 1969 they moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she managed apartments. The moved to Lubbock in 1980 where Melvin died in 1982. She married Ronald Weaver in 1985, after Ronald's death in 1985 she moved to Longview.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was always involved in church work and was especially gifted when teaching children the Bible. She will be remembered for her love for the Lord, her support and care for her family and friends and for the craft and sewing projects she always enjoyed.
She is preceded by her parents, Louella Defenbaugh Roush, Lawrence Roush, stepmother Marie Roush and brother Douglas Roush. She is survived by brothers Donald Roush and wife Phyllis of Midland and Larry Roush of Amarillo, son Dean Robertson and wife Marilyn of Longview, daughter Catherine Kay Neathery and husband Raymond of Georgetown; six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Claremont Nursing Home and acknowledge the loving care given by her daughter-in-law Marilyn Robertson during the last years of her life.
Private family burial will be at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview with a public memorial service at 1:00pm Friday at the Alpine Church of Christ.
