Helen Johnston's Obituary
Helen Louise Martin Johnston was born on October 5, 1922 to Florence & William Clifford Martin, Sr. in Denison, Texas. She was the youngest of four siblings - Grace, William, Jr., and Marie. She met the love of her life, E.C. Johnston, Jr., when she was 15 years old & they married on August 28, 1943. They were blessed with 3 daughters - Gayle, Decie, & an angel daughter with whom they are reunited. Daughter Gayle & Mark Parker live in Denham Springs, Louisiana and daughter Decie Brookshire lives in Longview, Texas. Helen's 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren were her pride & joy. Grandson Stewart & Katherine Harvey & their sons, Ian (5) & Walker (2) live in Wichita Falls, Texas. Granddaughter Laura & Burke Patterson & their children, Mary Margaret (19), Payne (16), & Sara (6) live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Granddaughter Amy Brookshire, lives in Brooklyn, New York. Grandson Clint Brookshire and his partner, Chad Spencer live in Dallas, Texas. Grandson Garnett Brookshire and his fiancé, Christina Godwin live in Tyler, Texas. Her niece, who was like a daughter to her, Blanche & Robert Bruyere of Longview, Texas & their children - Dr. Clint & Jamye Bruyere & their children Bo & Julianna. Cris & Sara Bruyere & their children - Alexis & Dustin Graves & their girls - Gracie & Allie Kate who live in Arlington, Texas, Cris Bruyere of Longview, Texas, & Blake Bruyere of Longview, Texas. Craig & Krista Bruyere of Williston, North Dakota. Her nephew, the Honorable Judge William Clifford Martin, III & his wife, Janet and their children - Missy Martin & her children, Alexander & Sydney of Redmond, Washington, & Charles & Christial Martin & their children, Garrett of Keller, Texas, Charla of Weatherford, Texas, & Philip Blake Johnson. Helen - lovingly known as GaGa - was a member of the First Methodist Church, The Junior League, Heritage Bible Study as well as the House & Garden Club. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 26, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a memorial gift be made to Heart's Way Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association, both of Longview, or to a beloved charity. A graveside service will be held at Memory Park Cemetery on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
