Helen Craig
Memorial services for Helen Craig, 91, of Longview will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Mark Ludwick officiating. Burial with private family graveside services will be held in Morris Cemetery near Gilmer. She passed away Tuesday, October 7 in a Longview hospital.
Mrs. Craig was born October 28, 1916 in Sabine Parrish, LA to Franklin P. and Maude Belle Leatherwood. She grew up in Nederland, TX and had been a resident of Longview for the past 40 years. She was a retired legal secretary and worked for Earl Roberts, Jr. for many years. She was a former member of the D.A.R. and the Legal Secretaries Association. She was a Pink Lady for the Good Shepherd Medical Center Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, William C. "Bill" Petty and J. V. Craig.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Avon and Glenn Hatfield of Zapata, TX, Ruth Craig of Longview, Karen and J. C. Boykin of Jacksonville, TX, and Jackie Craig Kahle of Bernardsville, N.J.; step-children, Bill Petty, Jr. of Mountain View CA, Michelle and Carson Jones of Albuquerque, NM and Nancy and John Casey of Yorba Linda, CA; brother, Robert L. Leatherwood of Parkersburg, WV; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
