Helen Stanley Ferrell's Obituary
Helen Stanley Ferrell was born in Linden, TX, May 23, 1924, to Thomas Levada Stanley and Leah Ruth Wommack Stanley. God called Helen home on May 31, 2020.
Her parents, her husband David Ferrell, her son Stanley, daughter Martha, her sisters, ‘Sister’ Azelle Robertson and Lucille Ford, and her brother N.L. Stanley preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter Dianne Ferrell Neal of Nashville TN, her granddaughter Sarah Nickoloff (Christopher), and her great grandchildren Ellie and Jackson Nickoloff, also of Nashville, TN, sister-in law Maggie Ferrell of White Oak, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen graduated from Linden High School with honors and was chosen Football Queen her senior year. She entered College of Marshall in September 1941.
Helen married David Ferrell on November 7, 1942. While he served in WWII, Helen took a secretary position with Bowie-Cass Electric and Refrigeration and was a member of the Linden Garden Club.
After moving to Longview in 1953, Helen and David joined First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She taught teens, women in their mid-thirties, and lastly the Pathfinders Class where she retired when she could no longer walk without a walker
Helen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Longview Music Club, Longview Civic Music, Longview Story League, Longview Forum, and was a Charter guild member of Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore.
Helen graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 1992 with a degree in Business Systems and Services and a minor in Biblical studies. She was inducted into Alpha Chi.
Gratitude is extended to Richard and Ruth Ann Muffler, Steve and Sherry Adell and family, Pathfinders, childhood friends from Rockdale, Nell Collins, Barbara Weaver, Lugene Rogers, and Joy Epperson.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Park Cemetery on June 5 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. David English officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Marta Leah Ferrell Scholarship Fund at East Texas Baptist University or a charity of your choice.
