Helen Blount Ray's Obituary
Services for Helen Blount Ray, 91, of Longview will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the First Baptist Church Ford Chapel with Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Ms. Ray passed away Saturday evening in a local nursing home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Helen was born on June 4, 1915 in Troup, Texas to Monty and Lula Blount. She has been in the Longview area since 1933. She was married to L.C. Ray on June 25, 1935 in Longview. She worked as a secretary for Dickenson & Harrison Insurance and Northcutt Insurance Agencies. Ms. Ray taught Sunday School and Training Union at First Baptist Church for 20 years. After she retired, she enjoyed doing volunteer work in the church library for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Ray in 1987.
Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Helen Ann and Glynne Weesner of Plano, TX, and Linda ?Tweet? and Jim Hurst of Longview; grandchildren and their spouses, Kristi and Bob Artman of Allen, TX, Leigh Ann and David Cadenhead of Allen, TX, James Garland Hurst of Houston, TX, John Russell Hurst of Portland, Oregon, Jay Harrison Hurst of Houston, TX, Guyla Weesner of Plano, TX, and Johnny and Laurie Weesner of Plano, TX; great-grandchildren, Chase Trice of Allen, TX, Kirk Humes of Allen, TX, Landon Weesner and Leah Weesner of Plano, TX, Braydon Stroud of Plano, TX, and Courtney Cadenhead of Allen, TX; great niece Mary Shrier and her husband Dee of Ft. Worth; and special cousin Alene Moore of Longview.
