Hatsue Itsuko Weiss' Obituary
Graveside services for Hatsue (Itsuko) Weiss will be held in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Weiss passed away at her home in Longview, TX, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Hatsue was born in Japan on April 29, 1941. She met and married her husband, James Weiss, who was serving in Japan with the United States Air Force in 1969. Together, they moved to the United States that same year, and she later became a U.S. citizen in 1973. Hatsue had a passion for caring for others. She enjoyed working at the Spring Hill High School cafeteria, where she was a favorite among the students. She additionally served at Buckner Retirement Home, where her compassionate disposition was evident to all the residents, establishing her as a cherished member of their community. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished her time with her grandchildren and was delighted to hear of her expected first great-grandchild just before her last days.
Hatsue was preceded in death by her parents, Shunei and Shige Kayoda, as well as her husband, James Weiss. Those left to cherish the memories of Hatsue include her sons Jeff and wife Lori, Jesse and wife Christine. Grandchildren include Jordan Weiss and wife Jordan, Jillian Cobb and husband Kirkland, Kaden Weiss, Jordan Burgess, Abby Weiss, and Lilly Weiss. Hatsue also leaves behind a family in Japan that includes her siblings Choei Kayoda, Hiroshi Kayoda, Naeko Kume, Kiyoshi Kayoda, and Kinue Yoshida. Thanks to the efforts of her granddaughter Jillian and niece Erina, she was able to reunite with them through a video call just before her passing.
