Mr. Harvey Neil "Tiny" Walton's Obituary
Harvey Neil (Tiny) Walton, 89, of Longview, TX, went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2014 . Services will be held at Rosewood Park Mausoleum, Longview, TX, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 10:00 am.
Tiny was born in Vivian, LA, on December 14, 1924, to Evelyn and Harvey Walton. He was raised in Walton Center and graduated from McCloud High School. Tiny was married 68 years to the love of his life, Opal Burkett, on February 23, 1943.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy from August 1943 to April 1946.
Tiny had 40 years in the oil field service in the locations of Rodessa, LA, Blackwell, OK, Seminole, Odessa, and Longview, TX. He retired in January 1987, closing Walton’s Gas Testing Services.
Playing his steel guitar was his passion. He was a member of the Exes of Texas Country Western Band for twenty years and entertained at nursing homes and retirement centers throughout Longview, TX, and surrounding areas.
He was a member of the Body of Christ Church at Longview North.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Opal and his brother, Douglas Walton. Left to cherish his memory is his son Rick Walton and wife Vonne, daughters Judy Hill and husband James, Diane Walker and husband Ron, sister Marcelyn Bankhead, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews.
