I only worked side by side with Harold for two weeks as he trained me to be a mud logger, but he left me with an unending gratitude. Thanks to his great knowledge of mud logging, his knowledge of geology, and persistence with my training, he helped me develop a passion for our line of work. Not long after I was called out to another rig to complete my training, the company man for Swift energy called our boss and requested me to break out as a mud logger on his rig. I have to give Harold a world of thanks for passing his knowledge on to me as not only have I benefited from it, but my family has benefited from it also. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing and would like to express my sympathy to his wife and family. Although I only worked with him a few weeks, he left an impact on me that I will carry for the rest of my life.
Harold, thank you for all of your help and patience, you were a great man. Without your teachings, I would not be the mud logger that I am today. I too, am training people to become mud loggers now and I will continue to use your techniques and pass on your stories.
