Harold Eugene Bridges' Obituary
Harold Eugene Bridges, 70, of Tatum, TX was taken from us unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2017. Harold was born May 26, 1946 to Melba Foster Powers and Henry Jack Bridges in Houston, Tx. He attended Longview high school, class of '65. Upon graduation he enlisted in United States Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam War as Lcpl, fire team leader with Mike Co, 3rd batillion, 26th Marine Regiment in 1968 receiving, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential unit citation, National Defense Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. After serving his country he attended Kilgore Junior College with a major in Art. Harold retired from Sabine mining after 30 plus years. Harold was self-employed in which he continued to operate heavy equipment doing what he loved. Harold left behind a legacy, he was known for his contagious smile and big heart. He enjoyed dancing and quality time with family and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by Henry Jack Bridges, dad; Melba and Billy Powers, mom and stepdad; Jack Bridges, brother; and Judy Bridges. He is survived by a sister Connie Ryan; sons, Jed Bridges and wife Kristy of Tatum; and Jake Bridges and wife Lauren of Tatum; daughters, Jenny Luce and husband Larry of Grapeland; and Joni Collum and husband Joseph of Kilgore. 13 grandchildren; Ty, Ethan, Lexie, Kyla, Koby, Karlie, Erin, Mercy, Thomas, Makaela, Ravyn, Aadyn, and Christion. 2 great grandchildren, Addy and Mackenzie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May, 15 from 6-8 pm at Rader funeral home of Longview and funeral services on May, 16 at 10 am at Bar None Cowboy Church of Tatum followed by Military graveside service at Martin Cemetery.
