Harmon Welby Gunn's Obituary
Harmon Welby Gunn, 74, of Longview, Texas, passed away on December 8th, 2023. He was born in Gilmer, Texas on September 2nd, 1949, to DC "Pete" and Emma Gunn. Harmon attended Harmony schools and graduated in 1968.
He joined the US Army and served 1 term in Vietnam. He was assigned to the 5th Special Forces group and worked in communications. He was honorably discharged. He served briefly as a deputy for the Gregg County Reserve. He spent the rest of his years truck driving for CF Freight, Roadway and retired from Yellow Freight.
He is survived by his daughter, Kara Gunn; his stepdaughter, Michele Fuller Faulkner; brother, Huse Gunn; sister, Laurel Bass; stepbrother, Roy Hanson; stepsisters, Rose Bailey & Mary Chandler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, DC "Pete" and Emma Gunn and sister, Phyllis Morgan.
A service celebrating Mr. Gunns life will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 15, 2023, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 7391 Giraffe Rd. Gilmer, TX 75644. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Grice Cemetery.
