“The time has come. I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race.”
Services for Hal Inman Jr, 80 of Longview will be held Tuesday December 15, at 10:00 am at Mobberly Baptist Church. Mr. Inman passed away Friday December 11th after a brave battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held between 6-8 pm Monday at Longview Missionary Baptist Church.
Hal was born October 30, 1935 to Hal Preston Inman, Sr and Brady Buford Inman in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1954. He attended Navarro Jr. College and North Texas State University and afterwards briefly served our country in the United States Coast Guard.
He married Wanda Dale on November 30, 1957 in Corsicana and they were married 58 years. They were blessed with three children, Tracy, Hal III, and Lisa. In 1965, Hal started operation of the Pizza King. He was quite proud of the 50 years of service the Pizza King provided to the community. He always had a special place in his heart for all the customers, friends, family and employees that went through the doors.
Hal attended Longview Missionary Baptist Church. He was known and loved by family and friends for his kindness, generosity, and great work ethic. He loved old cars, swap meets, oil and gas memorabilia, Indian history and artifacts, elk hunting in Colorado with the Martins, breakfast with friends at Jucy’s, having coffee with friends at Greggton Antique Mall, horses, cattle, his dogs Blue and Boots, and cat Cleo.
He was preceded in death by parents, Preston and Brady Inman; brother Bill Inman; and grandson Preston Inman IV.
Hal is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter Tracy and son-in-law Jim Alford; son Hal III and daughter-in-law LaJuana Inman; daughter Lisa and son-in-law Tommy Knight, all of Longview; his grandchildren, Jim Alford, Jr and his wife Lindsey of Cedar Park; Jonathan Alford and his wife Jordan, Adam Hamill and Taylor Inman of Longview; great grandson Tripp Alford; sister Susan and husband John Tacito of Longview; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hal loved his family dearly and was truly the “rock” for all of us.
Pallbearers will be Hal Inman III, Jim Alford, Tommy Knight, Jim Alford Jr, Jonathan Alford, Adam Hamill and honorary pallbearer Preston Inman IV.
The family would like to thank Robin Williams and HeartsWay Hospice as well as Betty Thomas for the loving care they provided in Hal’s last days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Reaching Forward” fund at Longview Missionary Baptist Church, HeartsWay Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
