Gwendolyn Jones Hand's Obituary
Gwendolyn Jones Hand was born on August 17, 1929, and passed away on November 12, 2024. Funeral services for Gwendolyn will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Henderson at 2 pm on Saturday, November 16, with a visitation to start one hour prior to the service. There will be a private family burial at Lakewood Cemetery earlier in the day.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Harvey Dalton Jones, her husband Lee Calvin Hand, sister Frances Coursey and brother Dalton Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Bruce Hand and wife Glenda of Hershey, PA and Kenneth Hand of Annona, TX. Her grandson Kyle Hand, granddaughter, Kasi Miller, and her great grandchildren, Ava and Braxton Miller of Henderson, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Gwen was an artist, and she loved to paint as well as a gardener who cared greatly for the flowers she tended at her home and was an avid fisherman. She loved to travel and had been to many places in the world over the years, but especially loved the New England area. She was in the insurance business and spent 28 years with AFLAC and of course was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Henderson where she was the organist for 47 years! A devoted Christian, mother and friend she will be missed by all who knew her.
