Guinlyn Hampton Nash's Obituary
Guinlyn Nash, 84, of Longview passed joyfully from this life to a reunion with her Lord and Savior and also her cherished family. Guinlyn was covered in the hopes and prayers of her family and friends as she made her final earthly journey.
Guinlyn was born in Pampa, Texas, in 1936 to Francis Lee and Mary Ann Hampton. She attended school at Carlisle schools in Price, Texas, before moving to Marshall, Texas, where she earned her diploma. Guinlyn attended business school to prepare for her early career as a bookkeeper. She put aside this career when she met the love of her life, Jim Nash. Guinlyn and Jim moved around the country following his career as a construction engineer. It was an ideal situation for Guinlyn whose love of travel was only exceeded by her love of people, and making new friends.
Guinlyn’s nomadic lifestyle ended as Jim retired and they moved to care for her mother, Ann Hampton. They decided in retirement to open a book store (reading was a special love of Guinlyn’s) and a golf shop (which was Jim’s passion). They ran the duel store together as they lived their life; arm-in-arm supporting each other every day. When Jim died, Guinlyn gave her love and support to her brother James. They lived out the remainder of their lives as constant, close companions-the ideal of a sibling relationship.
Guinlyn is survived by her nephews, Jeffrey and Jason of White Oak, Texas, and their children Joshua Hampton, Caleb Hampton, Kaitlyn Hampton, Emily Hampton, and Jessica Hampton. Many of Guinlyn’s cousins and friends are especially grieving at this time as well including the Dunfords of Oklahoma, the Yates of Iowa, Libby Greer, Robert Smith, the ladies of IHOP, and countless others. Guinlyn was a devoted member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. Her church family who loved and supported her in life will miss her presence as she precedes them on the next step of her eternal journey.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, February 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 11-12 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park in Longview.
