I was so sad to hear of Gretta's death. We had been friends for over 60 years. We met at the University of Texas as freshmen in 1954. In 1956, we went to Europe together and had many adventures - and misadventures. We were both students at the University of Frankfurt's summer courses for foreigners - and ended up spending a year in Germany. We stayed in touch over the years - trading recommendations for books and life experiences. Needless to say, I will miss her very much.
