Graciela "Gracy" Lopez Zapata's Obituary
Graciela “Gracy” Lopez Zapata
Graciela “Gracy” Lopez Zapata, lovingly known as Gracy by all who knew and loved her, was born on April 23, 1955, in Brownsville, Texas, and peacefully entered eternal rest on April 22, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe Lopez, Sr. and Tomasita Alamia Lopez.
Gracy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Noe Zapata; her sons, Brian Anthony Zapata and his wife Bailey, and John Eric Zapata. She was a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother to Kayla Zapata, Noah Zapata, Marley Bazar, Danika Zapata, Josiah Zapata, Charley Zapata, and La’Kai Freeney, each of whom brought immense love, laughter, and happiness into her life.
Gracy is survived by her two sisters, Alicia and Margie Lopez, as well as her in-laws, Arturo Sr. and Raquel Zapata, along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended Lopez and Zapata family members who meant so much to her.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Gracy was a cherished member of the Catholic Church communities at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and later St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Her love for the Lord shined brightly through the way she cared for others, welcomed everyone with warmth, and lived her life with kindness, compassion, and grace.
Gracy had a servant’s heart and never hesitated to help those in need. Whether through a comforting conversation, a warm meal, heartfelt prayers, or simply her joyful presence, she made people feel loved and cared for. Her laughter, strength, faith, and generous spirit touched countless lives and created lasting memories for all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love and legacy will continue to live on through her family, friends, church family, and the Longview community she so faithfully served.
In lieu of flowers, Gracy’s family asks that donations of toys and stuffed animals be made to the Longview Fire Department Station 6 to help bring comfort to children during difficult and stressful times. These items will be collected at both services. It is a beautiful way to honor Gracy’s servant heart and continue her final act of kindness by sharing love and comfort with others.
Visitation and Rosary will be held in the Chapel at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Friday May 8th, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 2904 Arrow Ln, Longview, on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m
