Grace Jeanette Mathis' Obituary
Funeral services for Grace Jeanette Mathis, 94, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Rader Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mrs. Mathis died Monday, March 29, 2010, at ETMC-Henderson.
She was born August 26, 1915 in Rusk County to John Thomas and Effie Mae Dorsey Allen. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a housewife. She had also worked as a clerk for Safeway, M.E. Moses, and Piggly Wiggly.
Preceding Mrs, Mathis in death were her parents; husband, L.A. Tige Mathis; sisters; Ruby Bennett and Nelwyn Leath; brothers: Oscar Allen, J.T. Allen, Graham Allen, Otho Allen, Herman Allen, and Alfred Allen.
Survivors include her children; Barbara Hawkins and husband Jack of Houston, Wayne Mathis and wife Linda of Longview, and Clint Mathis and wife Carolyn of Henderson; grandchildren: Carl Grant and wife Lynn of Carthage, Chris Hawkins and wife Teri of Friendwood, Chuck Hawkins and wife Tracy of Houston, Chad Hawkins and wife Kelley of Houston, Matt Mathis and wife Lisa of Henderson, and Samantha Smith and husband Jay of Henderson; 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matt Mathis, Jay Smith, Carl Grant, Chris Hawkins, David James, and Chad Hawkins.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
