Gordon Woolley's Obituary
Gordon Henry Woolley passed away on March 12, 2024 at the age of 64, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on March 18, 1959 in Tyler, Texas to John and Doris “Sug” Woolley. A 1977 graduate of Pine Tree High School, Gordon went on to complete degree work in Oil and Gas Technology at Kilgore College, graduating in 1980. He possessed an innate entrepreneurial spirit, which led to the ownership of several businesses and real estate investments throughout our community, beginning with Woolley G’s Bike and Fitness in 1986 and including Soapies Car Wash and others. His last addition to the family of businesses and employees was Hot Dog Express in 2023.
On May 6, 1993, Gordon married the love of his life, Pam Johnson. They happily celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on May 6, 2023. Together they devoted their lives, love and attention to their children Brandon, Kady, Ben and Bianca along with grandsons, Max and Hudson. He was a dedicated husband and father who never failed to make sure his family knew they were loved. While our time together was shorter than we would have liked, the values by which he lived and instilled in us, and the quality of time he so consistently and selflessly gave us, will last forever.
Throughout his life, with kindness always, and an ever present smile, Gordon was passionate and enthusiastic about his family, his friends and his faith. He loved good music, good baseball and being in the outdoors. He was a man on the go and would often show up unexpectedly and then leave without notice. Never one to make a fuss, it always seemed as if he felt leaving early was better than staying too long, so he routinely left all of us wanting more. He was a man that consistently showed up in quiet but impactful ways and needed no praise. His steadfast commitment to his family, friends and those who needed it in his community was rewarded with a wide circle of followers and fans. He was confident that he would be rewarded eternally for his commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus. That commitment was evident in the way he lived and died. He chose faith and hope over doubt and fear. Once again, he has left us too soon.
Gordon is preceded in death by his mother and father and survived by his wife Pam, his four children, Brandon, Kady and her husband Nathan, Ben and his wife Taylor, Bianca and her husband TJ, his two grandsons Max and Hudson, his three siblings, Deby and her husband Rick, Buddy and his wife Carol, Phyllis and her husband John, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family burial will be held prior to the service to celebrate Gordon’s life. A memorial service will follow at Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview on Monday, March 18th at 2 p.m. The family invites friends to a visitation on the evening prior, Sunday, March 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mobberly Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gordon’s devoted employees, the teams at Texas Oncology, Heartsway Hospice and to everyone in the community who has lifted them up in prayer during this time.
