Gordon Arthur Fenner's Obituary
Gordon Arthur Fenner, 83, was granted his “Angel Wings” at his home on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Longview, Texas. He was born September 16, 1934 to James & Louise Fenner in Ithaca, NY. He was a widower of Sandra Fenner and they shared 45 years of marriage.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Science from LeTourneau University in Longview, TX 1958 and was awarded his degree 57 years later during a diploma presentation at the University’s Belcher Center in 2015. He went on to have a successful career in the trucking business as owner of GAF Transport.
He had a passion for antique/classic cars and enjoyed sharing them with anyone who shared the same passion. He was a member of the East Texas Lazy 8’s and looked forward to their monthly meetings and driving tours through the back roads of Texas. He was also a member of the Longview Lion’s Club and an Honorary member of the Kilgore Lion’s Club for over 41 years and loved sharing time with friends and giving his community service. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and friends and looked forward to his weekly dinners with the Newcomers Club of Longview. He was also a man of great faith where he worshiped at Alpine Presbyterian Church, where he was AKA the “Candy Man”.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula R. Fenner of Garland, TX and his brother, Charles Fenner, of Pittsburgh, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Louise Fenner, his loving wife, Sandra Fenner, his son Mark Fenner and brother, James Fenner.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 25 at Alpine Presbyterian Church, 4102 Tryon Road, Longview, Texas and will be followed with a luncheon. Memorials may be made to the Lion’s Club or LeTourneau University to assist with dormitory expenses and building funds.
