Goldie Marie Simmons' Obituary
Funeral services for Goldie Marie Simmons, age 75 of Henderson, will held Saturday May 30, 2009 at 2 PM at Rader Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be officiated by Rev. Bob Goodnight, Rev. George Crump and Rev. David Gatlin. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Simmons died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born December 23, 1933 in Kentucky and had lived in Henderson for the past 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Vollie and Alice Daugherty and sister Martha Jean Cates.
Marie Simmons was a homemaker and a long standing member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in the Jumbo Community.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Roy Simmons, Sr. of Henderson, Texas, daughters Lura and Greg Cash of Humble, Texas; Tina and Joe Files, Sandy and David Gatlin, Lisa and Ricky Zorn all of Henderson, Texas, sons Roy Lee Jr. and Michelle Simmons, Johnny and Trista Simmons both of Henderson, Texas. Sisters Barbara and Donald Yates of Nebo, KY, Teresa and Paul Parker of Marion, KY; brothers John and Faye Daugherty of Dixon, KY, Bob and Ohoma Daugherty of Nebo, KY, Jerrold and Nancy Daugherty of Earlington, KY, Larry and Lois Daugherty of Clay, KY, Dick Daugherty of Nebo, KY, Mike and Andra Daugherty of Manitou, KY, and Tondra and Debbie of Nebo, KY. Sister-in-laws Juanita James of Cleveland, TX, Ina Rowell, Syble and Bob Looney, Judy and Wayne Gilstrap, Opal Simmons, Barbara Simmons and Betty Penney all of Henderson, TX, brother-in-laws Norman and Diane Simmons of Henderson, TX and Michael and Carolyn Simmons of Huntington, TX. Grandchildren, Jason Faggard, Taylor Copenhaver, Keith Gatlin, Kyle Gatlin, Kasey Curry, Thomas Files, Keri Files, Luke Zorn, Tracey Johnson, Tommy Zorn, Tabitha Moore, Dakotah Simmons, Rachel Simmons, Emili and Garrett Simmons. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Keeling, Lloyd Adams, Keith Gatlin, Kyle Gatlin, Thomas Files, Luke Zorn, Jason Faggard and Dakotah Simmons.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM at Rader Funeral Home in Henderson.
