Gloria Jean Richie's Obituary
Gloria Jean Richie, 85, passed away peacefully at her home March 24, 2023. She was born July 10, 1937 in Dallas, Texas, to Robert and Velma Tucker. Gloria graduated from Hillcrest High School and attended North Texas State University, where she met her husband to be, Weldon.
On November 16, 1956, she married the love of her life, Weldon Richie. They have three children, Robert Richie and wife, Gail, Lisa Richie, and Scott Richie and wife, Susan. They have four grandchildren, Ryan Richie and wife, Nicole, Sarah Miller and husband, Israel, Jonathan Richie and wife, Caity, and Kathryn Ellis and husband, Ashtyn. They have two great grandchildren, Ellis Richie and Merris Richie.
Gloria was a loving and Godly wife of 63 years and a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who faithfully followed Jesus throughout her lifetime. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and followed in believers’ baptism at 9 years old at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. As a young married wife, Gloria led GAs at Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Over the years, she taught Sunday School and led Ladies Bible Studies and mentored Ladies through their churches in Lafayette and Houston. In her later years, she followed Christ and served as a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Longview. Her greatest love was following Jesus and serving in the local church throughout her life.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at noon. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park.
