Gloria Deen Plant's Obituary
After a long, brave fight with congestive heart failure, Gloria Plant died peacefully in her home on April 8, 2021.
Gloria was a past member of Good Shepherd Medical Center Auxiliary, Friends of Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Our Lady's Guild of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and a faithful attendee, for many years, of the Longview Symphony Orchestra and the Community Theater Productions. After 33 years of service with Axelson, Inc., Gloria retired in 1985 as administrative assistant to the president.
Gloria was born in Austin, Texas, May 29, 1923. She was preceded in death by a baby son, John Southall; her parents, Roy C. Deen and Beatrice M. Deen; brothers Roy A. and Walter M. Deen; sisters Mary Agnes Deen, Constance Cross, Rose M. Burroughs, Frances C. Harden, Beatrice D. Stehling; Kathleen Corbett; and husband, Norman K. Plant.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy Southall Plant of Pollok, Texas, and Penny M. Southall of Lufkin, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews including Kathi Vance and Tim Corbett of Tyler.
A private funeral mass and burial will be held on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
