Gloria Dean Acker-Gaddis' Obituary
Gloria Dean Acker-Gaddis, born April 3, 1936, peacefully left this earth at age 88 on July 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at home. Her death comes 51 years to the day after the death of her first husband and love of her life, Billy.
Gloria lived to the fullest and spent her days traveling the world. She loved playing Liverpool Rummy with friends, and Scrabble with her daughter, Susan, and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Longview. Always a Cowboys and Rangers fan, she never missed a game. She loved letter-writing, crosswords, and Butcher Shop pie.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Della and S. L. Ratterree, and husbands Billy Acker and Condrie Gaddis. She is survived by her sister June Graham and her husband, Logan, of Nevada, and her children, Susan Shadid and her husband, David, of Diana; Kenneth Acker and his wife, Tammy, of Lindale; and Sherry Vance of Hawkins. Gloria will be fondly remembered by her 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Thursday, August 1 at 1:00pm with services at 2:00pm. Burial at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Hawkins will immediately follow. Donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
