Glenn Begley's Obituary
A memorial service for Glenn Begley, 70, of Longview, will be held at 1:00 PM on June 3rd at Greggton United Methodist Church on Pine Tree Road with Pastor Emmitt Barrow officiating. Glenn passed away at home on May 31st.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1934 in Seminole, OK. to Doyle and Mildred Roe Begley. Glenn's family moved to California in 1943 where he spent his childhood. He joined the Navy after graduating from High School in Porterville, CA in 1952. While he was in the Navy his family moved to Pittsburg, CA, where he met and married Lena Roquemore in 1956. Upon leaving the Navy in 1957 he went to work for a can making plant in Pittsburg, which started a 45-year career in the can making business. He brought his family to Longview in 1974 to work at the Schlitz Can plant, which was in the process of opening on Fisher Road. In 1988 his job took him back to California and several other places before he retired and moved back to Longview in 1999.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Lena, a daughter and son in law, Kathy and Jim Stark of Longview, one son, Tim of Dallas, one brother, Tom, of Diamond Head, MS, and two granddaughters of Longview who were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Glenn Jr and a beloved sister-in-law, Carol Begley.
Glenn loved golfing and spending time with his granddaughters.
