Glen Ray Lowry
Glen Ray Lowry, 70, was born June 24, 1934 in Celeste, Texas. He passed away September 2, 2004 at home after a lengthy five year battle with heart and lung problems.
He retired from the Air Force in 1979 after 24 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant. In 1970 he received an Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He attended Air Force University and graduated as an Academic Instructor and Physiological Training Supervisor. During his career, he was on special assignment at NASA in Houston. Glen was a member of the Skylab Medical Team and received numerous awards. He was involved with the Space Shuttle Program as a Chief Safety Systems Engineer, working with the astronauts in special trainings. Glen was a member of the medical team that monitored the astronauts while in flight during their space shuttle missions.
After retiring from the Air Force, he returned to NASA and began working in the same capacity as before with the Kelsy Seybold Clinic.
Glen received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas Polytechnic College in May 1968, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Glen was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Lowry in 1997. He married Reba Hargis from Parker, CO, in 1998 in Spring, TX. Glen and Reba moved to Gilmer in November 2002. He is survived by his wife Reba of Gilmer, TX. daughter, Sherry Baccigalopi and husband Joel of Baytown, TX. step-son, Spencer Hargis of Boston, MA.
Brother, Robert and wife Linda of Southlake, TX. two grandsons, Blake and Mark Baccigalopi of Baytown, TX.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 4, 2004 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Dr. Charles S. Barham officiating. The Entombment will be on Tuesday September 7, 2004 at Forest Park Cemetery in The Woodlands, TX.
