Gladys Terrell Richards
Gladys Terrell Richards, born July 5, 1920 to Maylon Terrell and Ella Rose Cockerell in Joaquin, TX. went home to be with her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Willie E. Richards; her parents; two brothers, M.J. and Horace Terrell; four sisters, Mineola Robins, Lura?Dee Bagby, Betty Reynolds, Mattie Terrell; and one son-in-law, David Towery.
She is survived by three children, Glynn Richards and wife Sondra of Harrison, Arkansas, David L. Richards and wife Rhonda of Longview, and Lana Towery of Liberty City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley and Eli Richards, Becky Richards, Paul Richards and his wife Rachel, John, Michael, Daniel, and Jordan Towery, Melissa Dunivan and her husband John,; two great grandchildren, Carmen Towery and Zachary Dunivan.
Gladys graduated from Joaquin High School in 1940. After graduation she went to work for Consolidated in Fort Worth, TX during World War II. She then worked for Safeway and Brookshire?s Food Stores. She retired from Grays Grocery Store in Gladewater. She was active in her church and enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Clarksville City Baptist Church in Gladewater, TX on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, September 1, 2005. Interment will be held at Gladewater Memorial Cemetery with a private family service. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in honor of Mrs. Richards: Gideon?s, Special friends at Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 East Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75601, Missions Ministry at First Baptist Church, Liberty City, 4714 FM 1252 W., Kilgore, Texas 75662, Heart?sWay Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree Road, Longview, Texas 75604, or Clarksville City Baptist Church.
