Mrs Gladys Pauline Reaves' Obituary
Gladys Pauline Reaves, 91, of Longview, peacefully made her journey to be her Lord on September 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Gladys was born in Pittsburg Texas on December 3, 1921 and was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. She was married to Clifton H. Reaves on Feb. 15, 1941and they were married 72 years. Gladys was employed and retired from the City of Longview Water Department of twenty years. She enjoyed creating ceramics, traveling, and fishing and hunting with her beloved husband. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and her church, Greggton First Baptist, where she attended since 1951. Gladys was a two time cancer survivor, and continued to be a blessing to others throughout her long life.
Gladys is survived by one son, Danny Clifton Reaves and his wife Paula of Longview; two grandsons, Dan Russell Reaves and his wife Teresa of Tatum, and Allen Scott Reaves and his wife Ronna of Longview’ one great grandson Timmy Reaves of Longview; two great granddaughters Brittany Trimble of Kilgore and Natalie Collins of Henderson. She is also survived by three step granddaughters Mary Robinson of Longview, Vicky Norman of Gladewater and Ronda Brady of Warren, OR; numerous step great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Mills of Broken Bow, Nebraska; three brothers, John Hart Efurd and his wife Sandra of Pittsburg, Texas, Jack Efurd and his wife Joyce of Pittsburg, Texas, and Richard Efurd and his wife Neva of Richardson, Texas.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, John William Efurd and Mary Addie Efurd; her husband Clifton H. Reaves; her daughter Janice Reaves; her brother, Fred Efurd; and five sisters Gurtha Collins, Nellie Allen, Loceria Johns, Lois Efurd, and Pansie Johns.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be given to the Faith Hospice, 4362 HWY 259 North, Longview, Texas 75605.
The family of Gladys Reaves wishes to thank her care giver, Mary Robinson and Faith Hospice for the loving care given to her while she has prepared to make her heavenly journey.
