Gladys Davis Moore
Services for Gladys Davis Moore will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 12, 2004 at Winterfield Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Lindstrom officiating. Burial will follow in the Winterfield Cemetery. Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, November 9, 2004. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Moore, a lifelong resident of Longview, was born November 16, 1916, to Thomas and Jodie Harris Davis, both of pioneer Longview families. She graduated from Longview High School in 1935 and married Mervin Moore on March 22, 1936. They had one daughter, Jetta Moore Woodall.
Mrs. Moore was a Camp Fire Leader and a lifetime PTA member. She was a lifelong member of Winterfield Methodist Church, which her grandfather founded. Mrs. Moore actively served her Lord as church pianist and chairman of the board. She also served on many other committees and lovingly taught the young married couples class, Genesis II, for 20 years. She touched many lives in this ministry and made lasting friendships, as evidenced by the loving care and concern that members of this class continued to show her until her death.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jodie Harris Davis; her husband, Mervin Moore; a sister, Lola Belle Smelley; and two young brothers.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jetta and Bobby Woodall of Eustis, Florida; three granddaughters, Kelli Woodall Garcia and her husband, Justin, and their children, Logan and Lukas, all of Nashville, Tennessee; Traci Woodall Martin and her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Jana, all of Orlando, Florida; and Angi Woodall of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Mamie Veteto, of Longview; one niece, Claire Bates, of Longview; two nephews, Billy T. Smelley and Mack Smelley, both of Longview; several cousins and many friends who will miss her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
