Burial will be held in Vivian, LA Saturday at 10 a.m. Mrs. Liverman passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Longview.
Geraldine was born on September 27, 1916 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Myrtle and Joseph Smith. With her father working for an oil company they lived where the work was. Most of her school years were in Henderson, Texas. She then moved to Vivian, Louisiana to work there. It was there that she met Myrl Liverman. After marrying in 1938 they lived in Vivian until 1954 when they moved to Shreveport. To this union three children were born, Joel, Michael and Rebecca.
While living in Shreveport Geraldine worked for Sears and was an active member of the Highland Baptist Church. She and Myrl had many life long friends in Vivian and Shreveport and they enjoyed traveling and camping with them. The three grandkids along with Charles and Amanda Kuhlman loved the camping trips. She also enjoyed cooking and having family get-to-gethers at her home. These were all very special times and memories for Geraldine.
After Myrl’s death she moved to Live Oak Retirement Center and there she made many new friends and renewed old friendships. She had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing in the choir and going to all of the socials at the center. Live Oak was a happy and caring place for her to spend her last years. Her family is grateful to the
people at Live Oak for their love and friendship these last few years. Her final move was to Longview to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Joel, husband Myrl, daughter Rebecca Roche, three sisters and one brother.
Geraldine is survived by her son and his wife, Michael and Brenda Liverman of Longview; and grandchildren Camille Liverman Clark and husband Shannon of Longview, Crisman Liverman of Dallas, and Joseph Mc Mahan,III and wife Ashley of Slidell, LA., her great-grandchildren Emma and Cory Clark and Alexandra, Preston and Madeline McMahan. Geraldine is also survived by one sister Betty Jo Daugherty of Shreveport, along with her nieces and nephews that meant the world to her. She also loved her extended family here in Longview - Waynell and Jack Kuhlman and Amanda, David, Jonas and Meredith Roberts.
Great times were had at family holidays and birthdays. She always made her special “ham rolls” for these gatherings! She loved the times at Lake Cherokee, Caddo Lake, and in Longview at family events. Geraldine was known by many names….Gerri, Grandma, and Gee Gee! How she loved her family, friends and especially the grandkids, great-grandkids and her grand dogs Leo, Lucy and Tio. She was always so proud of all that her family did and accomplished. She loved hearing all about their activities. We treasure all of these times and will miss her being with us. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday in September!
Special thanks to her special friend and care giver Maxine Bowens and to the Care Team from First United Methodist Church. Their time with her gave her many hours of sharing God’s love and their friendship. Clairmont Nursing Facility and Heartsway Hospice provided loving care to Geraldine as well as her family and for that we are grateful.
