Geraldine Olivia Mclaughlin Forbis was born on August 15, 1936, in Pacific Junction, Iowa. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 20, 2025. Gerrie was preceded in death by her husband James D. Forbis, and her parents Frank and Helen McLaughlin. Gerrie was a faithful member at Springhill FBC. Gerrie had a very storied working career with the LeTourneau family for a total of 55 years.
She first started working for R.G. LeTourneau at LeTourneau INC. After his retirement she worked for his son, Richard LeTourneau at LeTourneau INC. The plant was sold to Marathon and became Marathon LeTourneau. The proceeds of that merger were beneficial in the funding of The LeTourneau Foundation where she followed Richard LeTourneau as his administrative assistant. After a short while, they transitioned to LeTourneau College. Richard became president and she became his administrative assistant. This went on for 20 years until he moved. This started an era where she switched positions and became administrative assistant to the Academic Dean, where she stayed up until just before her retirement, she was then again given the title of administrative assistant to the President under Dr. Mason. Thousands of students have come through her office. Many students worked for her directly during their time at LeTourneau. Her influence has been spread all over the world, by missionaries that received their education at LeTourneau. Gerrie kept in contact with them routinely following their mission work. She was a prayer warrior for them all. It was always a blessing when Second and Third generation students arrived and were specifically told to look up Mrs. Forbis, as she would guide you to the right path to take while at the school.
Gerrie was blessed with a legacy of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son Kevin and his wife Ladeana, and their children, James Kevin and his wife Mary Forbis and their daughter Sophia.
