Gerald Hanks' Obituary
On April 18, 2025, Gerald Ladon Hanks left his earthly home to join his best friend, Jane, in their heavenly home. He was born August 6, 1934, in Byars, OK. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane Cochran, on November 1, 1952, in Lawton, OK. Together they raised 4 boys Victor, Phillip, Terry, and Nathan. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher as well as other positions for the railroad for over 35 years. He loved making things work; he was always finding ways to make things work better for him. Over the years he loved traveling, sitting on the porch, tinkering with stuff in the garage, telling stories and singing songs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thed I. Hanks and Ruby Alice Roberts, his loving wife Mary Jane Hanks, and two brothers Leroy Hanks and Burl Hanks.
Left to cherish his memory is brother Bob (Cheryl), four boys Victor (Beatrice), Phillip (Sue), Terry (Linda), Nathan (Cheri), grandchildren Sarah, Robert, Johnathan, Jeremy (Niki), Jay (Tasha), Gary (Sabrina), Angela (Blake), Shannah (Joel), Rylan, Evan, Audrey, Jessica (Sam), Stephanie, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home (1617 Judson Rd Longview, TX). Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm with visitation prior at Calvary Tabernacle (301 E Hawkins Pkwy Longview, TX). A private family interment will follow.
