Gerald E. Secrist's Obituary
Gerald E. Secrist age 71 of Longview passed away at home with his loving family by his side on January 17, 2013. He was born to Cecil and Evelyn Secrist in New Hampton, Iowa on August 3, 1941. When he was s small child the family moved to Centralia, Missouri and it was there Gerald attended local schools growing up and graduated from high school. Then in 1961 Gerald enlisted into the US Air Force and for the next four years faithfully served our country. During his military service Gerald was stationed both in Japan and Germany. In 1971 Gerald moved to Longview where he worked as a Machinist. He then entered the oil industry as a pipeline mechanic. Later he met Janet Hardey and then on May 14, 1988 they were married. Gerald loved watching NASCAR and was an accomplished woodworker.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Janet Secrist of Longview, his daughter Robin Miller and her husband Ricky of Midway, Utah, his sons Byron Hardey and his wife Angie of Keithville, Louisiana and Anthony Hardey and his wife Sherri of Orlando, Florida, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his brother Donald Secrist and his wife Virginia , sister, Lorie Hoffman and her husband Bill both of Centralia, Missouri, sister, Janice Robison of Benton City, Missouri, brother, Wendell Secrist and his wife Gwen of Hillsboro, Oregon, sister, Joanne Sparks and her husband Ted of Longview and several nieces and nephews. Gerald's parents and grandson Brandon Hardey all precede him in passing.
There will be crypt side services in the mausoleum at Rosewood Park in Longview, Texas on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 starting at 10am. Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
