Gerald Dean Bounds' Obituary
Dean was born to Pershing and Geraldine Bounds on April 6, 1943 in Center, TX. He was the baby of four and was proud of his older brothers, Myron and Don, and his sister LaFern. Dean graduated from Panola College where he played on the college baseball team. He continued his studies and participation on the collegiate baseball team and played Semi-Pro baseball while at Northeastern University in Monroe, LA. In 1966, Dean enlisted in the United States Army. His service included a tour in Taiwan. Dean served as an E-5 Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1972. Dean married his high school sweetheart Judith Ann True Bounds. Dean and Judy's life revolved around their joy in raising their only child, Bradley Dean Bounds. Dean was a dedicated and involved Dad. He loved coaching Bradley's Little League teams, and even let Bradley tag along with him while running the family business. The family lived in Dallas, TX until 1985 upon the untimely passing of Judy, the love of Dean's life. Recently, Dean has been blessed to do exactly what he loves most in life ...spending time with his son and daughter-in-law, Karla, and his two grandchildren, Kennedy and Brinkley, who according to Dean, are the greatest grandchildren in the world!
Dean was an accomplished student and athlete, an honorable veteran, a successful businessman, an adoring husband, a strong father, a sweet father-in-law, a great Poppy, and a sincere Christian. His legacy lives on!
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00pm on Friday, July 20, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. A grave side service will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 11:00am at Sparkman/Hillcrest Cemetary in Dallas, TX.
