Gerald Brelsford's Obituary
Surrounded by his family, Gerald Linzy Brelsford, 99, of Longview, passed away on April 19, 2014, in Longview, Texas.
Funeral services for Mr. Brelsford will be held at Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at 12:00 pm with Reverend Shelley Kral and Reverend Donald Nunn officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Judson First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, on Tuesday, April 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Gerald was born in Illinois, on September 9, 1914. A WWII Veteran bronze star recipient, Gerald served from 1943 to 1946. He worked in the East Texas oil field and retired from Amoco Production Company in 1979 with 44 years of service.
Gerald was active in the Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he had been a member since his early days in Longview. He served as an Elder and in many other capacities throughout his life.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Zephie Brelsford, and brother, Gale. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise McAfee Brelsford; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Loretta Brelsford and Clay and Cindy Brelsford; grandchildren, Lindsey, Christopher, David and Melanie, and Jarret and Caroline Brelsford, and one great-grandson, Hudson Linzy Brelsford. He is also survived by a niece and nephew and his two favorite ‘granddogs’, Jackson and Olivia.
