Georgia Kathryn "Kathy" Goodwin's Obituary
Funeral services for Georgia Kathryn “Kathy” Goodwin, 88, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 7, 2017, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Reverend David Farmer officiating. Mrs. Goodwin passed away Saturday evening in a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM before the service on Friday. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Kathy was born on May 31, 1929 to Johnie Marshall and Iva Jewel Adams Barton. She was a past Worthy Matron for Eastern Star 610 from 1971-1972. She was also a member of Eastern Star #995 in Hallsville and active with both clubs up to her passing. Kathy was retired from Sears and from Lilies and Lace Bridal Shop. She was active in the Texas Association of Single Square Dancers and a charter member of Camping Squares in East Texas. She served as V.P with Single Hinges Square Dancer and was a member of several other square dance clubs. She also loved to travel and camp in the trailer, loved to sew, paint pictures, read, and cook, but above all that, she loved God and her family most of all. She was known in the square dance community as the “cookie lady” and by her niece as the best “chocolate pie” maker. She will be greatly missed.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Eugene Goodwin; and by her son, Gary Eugene Goodwin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Fern Smith; her special friend, David Conner; her niece, Debbie Lowe; her nephews, Jimmie Armstrong and Ricky Armstrong; several great and great-great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
