Georgia Mae Bishop Honea's Obituary
Georgia Mae Bishop Honea, age 85, of Longview, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on June 9, 2021. She is a 25-year breast cancer survivor and most recently, she has been battling kidney failure. Georgia was born March 23, 1936, in Dekalb, TX to Cleo and Ora Bishop. Later she met and married Leo B Honea, Jr., on December 21, 1952. They were together almost 60 years until his passing July 25, 2012. Leo and Georgia loved to travel in their RV. They saw many places in the US including a 5-week RV trip to Alaska. Georgia worked for 20 years as tax collector/assessor for Pine Tree ISD. She had a deep faith in the Lord and was a faithful member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview TX.
Georgia’s parents, Cleo, and Ora Jane Bishop, and sister, Bobbie Estes precede her in passing.
Those left to cherish her memories is her a sister, Janie Elliott of Dekalb TX; son, Steve Honea, and his wife Diana of Fredericksburg TX; son, Douglas Honea of Lewisville, TX and a daughter, Kathy Pepper and her husband Mark of Longview TX. She was lovingly called Grandma and Nana by many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Scott Honea and sons, Andy and Max, Kristyn Honea, William Honea and his wife Meredith and daughters Emerson and Finlay, Jennifer Honea, and her boyfriend Joe Yager, Kyndra Busha and her husband Luke and children Maycie and Micah, Jacob Pepper and his wife Lacey and children Jesse, Liam, River, Violet and Luca, Sean Pepper and his wife Lillie and children Addyson, Hayden and Georgia. She will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10am, Friday, June 11, 2021, in the mausoleum chapel at Rosewood Park in Longview. A time of visitation will start at 9am that day in the mausoleum chapel.
A heart filled thanks to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice and especially Michele and Danielle who lovingly cared for Mom.
