George W. Davis' Obituary
Graveside services for Mr. George W. Davis, 84, of Henderson, will be at Lakewood Memorial at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 17, 2008. Reverend Georgann Turlington, Mr. Davis' niece, will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Rader Funeral home of Henderson. Mr. Davis went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as an usher and greeter. Mr. Davis was born August 24, 1923 to W.P. and Finada Davis in Gary Texas. Shortly after graduating from high school in San Augustine, he joined the navy and served during World War II. After returning from the war, he soon met the love of his life, Ms. Betty Honeycutt. They were married December 15, 1952 and were happily married for 56 years. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Betty, one son, Scott and his wife Bobbie and their two daughters, Jennifer McNeil and her husband Brad, and Stephanie Salmon and her husband Michael and one sister, Winona Leggett and numerous nieces and nephews, and also, his very special loving care provider, Ms. Debra Dessecker who cared for Mr. Davis during his illness. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the nurses and care givers with the Hospice of East Texas especially Ms. Mirna Davilas and Ms. Susan Cox. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Alzheimer's Alliance or the Hospice of East Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jim Pool, Malcolm Henderson, Joe Leggett, Mack Bassett, and Roger Carlisle.
