George Swierc's Obituary
George Swierc died March 16, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with emphysema and congestive heart failure.
He was born October 2, 1931 in Falls City, Texas. He remained on his family?s farm until he joined the US Air Force at the age of 18. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War and served a full four year term. Upon exiting military service in 1952, George soon began working for Piccadilly Cafeterias where he remained a loyal and dedicated employee for 38 years, working his way up from chef to location manager. He married Nora Mae Morehead on January 27, 1962
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nora, His mother and father, Leonard and Philomena Swierc and brother Wilfred Swierc. Surviving are his sons Mark Swierc of San Antonio and Steven Mahone and wife Saralyn of Colorado Springs; his daughters, Debra Cazale and husband Chip of McKinney, Diane Atkins of Longview, Sharla Jones of San Antonio and Karen Swierc of Irving; his grandchildren, Kelsey Mahone, Tana Atkins, Preston Cazale, Mason Jones and Quinn Mahone; sisters: Sally Foegelle and husband Valerian and Betty Jiral and husband Ray, sisters in law; Lillian Swierc, Norma Corley and husband Donnie and Naoma Faye Reeves.
The rosary will be held Friday, March 24, 2006 at 7 PM at Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 10 AM in St. Anthony?s Catholic Church with Father Bruce Lincon officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
