George Lee G.L. Porter's Obituary
Services for George Lee G. L. Porter, 65, of Longview, will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Jace Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Gum Springs Cemetery.
G. L. was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, September 30, 1938.
He passed away January 11, 2004 at Longview Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He attended the Longview & Hallsville schools, was in the Air Force and served in Turkey. G. L. had a logging business and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.
He married Rita Nell Smith on May 2, 1957 and they have four children, Robbie Nell Porter Ogle and her husband, Mike Ogle, Mitch Porter and his wife Karen, Donny Allen Porter and his wife, Lori Ann, Marjorie Porter Bradley and her husband Lawrence. He is also survived by the following grandchildren; Robert Michael and his wife, Kaci and Justin Lee Ogle, Shanda, Cory, Joshua, Casey W., James A. and Chadwic A. Porter, Barry J. Warren, Camelia Ann Warren, Coty and Jessica Jenkins, Mikal and Mishel Bradley and Beth Madding ; great grandchildren, Hailey Michelle and Rayden Wayne Porter and Bradley Madding.
Also surviving is his loving mother, Etta Mae Smith Shirley, a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Homer Humphrey, a stepbrother and his wife Bill Jim and Suzy Emerick, and aunts and uncles, Marjorie and Melvin League and Alfred and Cecelia Smith and special cousins Stewart Lee and Barbara Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 12 from 7-8 PM at the funeral home.
