George Hampton's Obituary
George Everett Hampton was born on December 23, 1942 and passed away on January 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frankie Nix Hampton and his uncle, Vergil Hampton.
George is survived by his wife Karen Hampton, sons, Barry Hampton and wife Cindy, Jon Hicks and wife Jodie and Joshua Humphries and wife Cassie, his daughters, Karen Vines and husband Derrick and Tabitha Smoker and husband Dan, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Vern Stokes, cousins, Kent Hampton and Anne Johnson as well as a dear friend, Harold "Weed" Flowers.
George was born and raised in Henderson, TX and graduated from Henderson High School in 1961. Following high school he joined the Navy and was a proud veteran. George enjoyed searching for and collecting arrowheads and fishing, especially at Lake Murvaul. He was an excellent Tennis player, at one time being ranked as high as 34th in the state of Texas. He retired at 58 after many years as a technician with British Petroleum. George was known as a kind and pleasant person with a sweet tooth and a very comical sense of humor. He was loved greatly and will be missed by all who knew him.
