George Bryan "The Frog" Eaton's Obituary
LONGVIEW - A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of George Bryan Eaton, 76, of Longview, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2 PM, with his family officiating. Interment will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Eaton entered glory on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Longview Regional Hospital.
Bryan was born to William and Lottie Noel Eaton on December 2, 1940 in Henderson, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his 2nd father Lloyd Duncan, and his brother, William J. Eaton.
Referred to as “larger than life,” Bryan “The Frog” Eaton lived life to the fullest. He graduated from Lee High School of Baytown, Texas and joined the United States Army in June 1959 and served in Ludwigsburg, Germany for 18 months, and later during the Berlin Crisis at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was honorably discharged as a Rank Specialist 5 Class. In his words: “ very proud I served.”
Bryan married the love of his life, Barbara Phillips, on August 17, 1964 and together they have two children, April Lynn and Bryan Calvin.
Bryan was a born salesman – an award-winning employee of Samuels Strapping, from which he retired in 2009. He developed friendships with his colleagues and clients, which continued until his death. There is little doubt that his big heart impacted every person around him. He never met a stranger.
He loved spending time with those he loved in the outdoors, especially the Buffalo National River and Gulf Shores, Alabama. He enjoyed many canoe trips with his closest friends, David Lancaster and Sam Cameron. After his retirement, he loved cooking his famous breakfasts for his grandchildren, setting up “camp” for the entire family during trips to the beach, enjoying Caribbean cruises with his wife, and making sure everyone present saw the brighter side of life, which came naturally to him.
He leaves behind his one and only, his wife of 53 years, Barbara Eaton; his daughter, April Eaton Moreton, son Bryan C. Eaton and their spouses, Sam Moreton and Holly Eaton, respectively. Cherishing their Papa Frog’s memory are five grandchildren: Sophia Eaton, Asher Moreton, Ava Moreton, Brock Moreton, and Scarlett Moreton. Bryan also leaves behind two nephews, Curtis Eaton and Joe Paul Eaton, and one niece, Sherry Crochet.
He is and was a presence in our family that will never be replaced. Rest in peace, Papa Frog.
