I just learned of Gene's passing today (3/12) and I am so sorry to receive the news. I would have loved to have attended his services. Gene and I were classmates at Pittsburg and both starred (?) on the 1953 Little League All-Star team that was slaughtered by the Longview All-Star team. Gene was little for his age, but that did not damped his enthusiasm for baseball. I know that you are already aware for other accolades that Gene was a genuinely good man and treated all in the manner he was taught, "do other others as you would have them do unto you". It was an honor and a privilege to have know Morris Gene "Hoss" Robertson.

We have been greatly saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Gene “Hossman” Robertson, a true dedicated servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are comforted by the thought that he is no longer suffering and is with his wife, Patty, in Heaven and by the wonderful memories of the many times we were together at Baylor starting with the Martin Hall gang, which annual celebration continued for many years until COVID suspended it. Gene will be greatly missed! As it has been said many times, “Our loss is Heaven’s gain.” We are praying for comfort for Gene’s family and many friends.

Gene (Hossman) Robertson has been a blessing to me all my life: Growing up together in FBC Pittsburg, knowing his Dad & Mother, living together in Baylor, performing the marriage ceremony for Gene & Patty, watching God bless Gene and Patty with their family, and then having special times that he helped plan with our Baylor Over-the-Hill Gang in the later years of life.
However, the past several months God has given me the special blessing of praying with Hossman as he faced the "last enemy of Death". I prayed for him and he prayed for me. His Faith in the face of Death was a great testimony to his faith in God as Father, Redeemer, and Friend.
The week before Hossman went to the nursing home, I shared a quote from Max Lucado that he liked and that he is now living out in God's presence.
"We see a hearse; we think sorrow. We see a grave; we think despair. We hear of a death; we think of a loss. NOT SO IN HEAVEN! When heaven sees a breathless body, it sees the vacated cocoon and the liberated butterfly.”
Hossman is liberated!

Gene was our organizational leader of the "MARTIN HALL GANG". We lived in Martin Hall--Baylor. We were close friends for our years at Martin Hall. Of course, many of us lost touch for years. About a decade ago, we decided we needed to reunite our "BOND". and get together at Baylor once a year. WHAT A CELEBRATION!!! Staying at a motel we were able to spend "precious" time together for a few days.

The pandemic interrupted the last two years of our special time. It won't be the same without Gene--"Hoss Man". But, hopefully, we will find a way for the Martin Hall Gang to meet again and share memories of "HOSSMAN"!!!

Gene and Patty were good friends from long ago in Pittsburg. I have so many memories that bring such happiness to mind. I remember when Gene got a new Schwinn bicycle and we all thought it was so cool. Many Saturdays were spent playing scrub softball on the dirt parking lot of the church. Patty was one of my very best friends and I remember when Gene and his living next door and how thrilled Patty was because she was always in love with Gene! I was privileged to see Gene at one of the Singing Men of East Texas concerts and it was so good to "catch up" for a minute. I know he missed Patty terribly when she left us for her heavenly home, so I can just imagine the reunion in heaven! He will be missed. Ann Shirley Campbell
