Gene Hawthorne's Obituary
Gene Hawthorne age 73 of Longview, passed away August 6, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX.
He was born May 11, 1939 in Leake County Mississippi. As a child the family moved to Horn Lake, Mississippi and it was there he attended local schools growing up.
After high school Gene entered the United States Marine Corps in 1956 where he honorably served our county for 3 years.
After his military service Gene entered the transportation industry and for the next 40 years he drove truck. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters #745.
Gene was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family was his true life. And everyone was a friend. If you were in his house you were no stranger.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Mirtha Hawthorne, three sons, Mike Hawthorne and his wife Deana, Dennis Hawthorne and his wife Teri, and Mark Hawthorne and his wife Sabrina, 2 daughters, Arlene Yancey and her husband Mike and Lisa Frady and her husband Randy. Gene also is survived by 10 precious grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of His Life Friday, August 10, 2012 at Rader Funeral Home, Longview starting at 10am. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
