Gaylon Dan Wages' Obituary
Gaylon Dan Wages, 67, of Longview, Texas, passed away on January 7, 2026. Born on August 13, 1958, Gaylon lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for the open road.
Gaylon was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend whose love for his family was evident in everything he did. He is survived by his son, Gaylon DeWayne Wages, his loving sister, Patricia Wages Lighthall, his niece, Aleisha Darnell, her husband Corey, and their daughters, Avaree and Cadence, and his nephew, Daryl Lighthall, his wife Destiny, and their daughters, Evelyn, Aaliyah, and Ari.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arrey “R.Z.” and Annie Wages, and sister Joy Ann Wages all of Longview, Texas.
Gaylon spent much of his life doing what he loved most—driving 18-wheeler trucks. His career began at a young age when he first started driving a meat truck for the family business, Wages Meat Company. That early start ignited a lifelong passion for trucking and the freedom of the road, a passion he carried with pride throughout his working years, by ending his career for driving Madden Construction. As we say goodbye to Gaylon, let us carry forward his legacy of hard work, love for family, and passion for the open road. May his memory remind us to cherish every mile of life’s journey and hold close the bonds that truly matter. Rest in peace, Gaylon—you will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral Services will be held at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, TX. On January 13th, 2026. Visitation will be at 10 AM, with funeral service immediately following at 11 AM with the burial following at Grace Hill Cemetery.
