I first met Gaylon in 1990 when he wrote up our insurance policies for my husband's company, Crews Electric. He and I hit it off immediately and we could visit for hours. We had many inside jokes about my being an only child and marrying into such a big family. He was such a true gentleman and sweet soul. I enjoyed our friendship and our many conversations. Years passed by and my husband passed away in 2014. A couple of weeks ago, I suddenly thought about him and realized it had been 20 years or more since I had talked to him. His phone number was still in my contacts...I called, he answered, and we picked up right where we had left off. He told me he had just watched the squirrels in his back yard, that he still lived at the lake, his wife had passed away and he was 92 years old! We laughed and we both agreed he was 25 years old at heart. We talked for over an hour and I promised him I would call him when we returned from vacation. We got back Saturday night and I was planning on calling him tomorrow. I was heartbroken to see his passing in the newspaper. God bless his family and God bless this wonderful man. He enriched my life and he was a great friend to me.
