Gayle Norman May's Obituary
Gayle Norman May, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2021. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee on September 19, 1934 to Admiral Dewy May and Mary Kiger May. After high school he joined the Army National Guard, and shortly thereafter he served in the U S Navy during the Korean war. After being honorably discharged, he attended Lambeth College of Tennessee. Norman moved to Pasadena, Texas where he met and married the love of his life of 51 years. He worked for the United Stated Postal Service as a letter carrier until he was injured on the job however remained employed by them and proudly accepted his 50 years of service pin with USPS a few years back.
He was a devote member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church throughout his entire life, serving in numerous service positions and leadership including the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Norman enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the piano, fine arts, and Bible Ministry. He volunteered teaching English to elementary age Spanish students and English to adult Chinese families. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his three daughters Janna Trichelle (Pat) Cheek of Oklahoma, Elizabeth Gale (Tim) Sawyer of Missouri, and Paula Jane (David) Carnagey.
Grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, Rachael, Melanie, Katherine, Jennifer, Hanna, Shonna, Patrick, Misty and Kimber along with 20 great grandchildren.
Sister-in-laws: Wanda May, Stark May, and Becky May.
He was Preceded in Death by his wife, Chloe Jane Little May and their son, David Michael May, his sisters Elsie June May and Allah May Larkin and brothers: John Thomas May, Jack Randall May, Wallace Lee May, Gene Hollmen May, Julian Simmons May and Dennis Wayne May.
